I thought it was a great idea, but then I thought about what I thought was great, and then it wasn’t a great idea anymore but then I wasn’t always right.
How many times have you stopped because of your inner criticisms?
Many things in life stop us from discovering and pursuing what truly lies within us. I once read this quote from Paulo Coelho: “What is a teacher? I’ll tell you: it isn’t someone who teaches something, but someone who inspires the student to give of her best in order to discover what she or he already knows.” and many times fear takes the lead if they can discover it and then one of the silent but loudest killer of what we envision to do or achieve is the critic that comes from ourselves.
The critic within ourselves can often be the biggest obstacle to pursuing our dreams. Many times, we dismiss our ideas before giving them a chance to thrive.
Do we have two selves at war, or do we have a third self that affirms, confirms, and validates our ideas? Is there anything psychologically that confirms or academically sheds more light on this thinking?
However, we should listen to ourselves before sabotaging our potentially winning ideas. Instead of being too hard on ourselves, we should remember that what we might consider stupid could be a brilliant way of bringing something new and valuable to life.
In today’s world, it’s easy to be afraid of failure or looking foolish. But we should remember that some of the most successful inventions and ideas were born from people trying to achieve something entirely different from their original ideas. We should not be quick to dismiss our ideas as stupid or foolish but rather give them a try. Remember that brilliant things sometimes start less than brilliant. By accepting this fact and giving our ideas a chance, we can unlock our true potential and achieve great things. So don’t let fear or criticism within yourself stop you from pursuing your dreams. Give your ideas a chance, and you may be surprised by the results.
